The Department of Biology is one of the main research centers on Life Sciences of the University of Naples Federico II and is active in various biological sectors, including research and experimental development in the field of biological, natural and environmental sciences.
- Evaluation of the protective effects of natural molecules on osteogenic differentiation in microgravity conditions;
- Evaluation of the protective effects of natural molecules on the intestinal microbiota during space flights;
- Evaluation and verification tests of the biocompatibility of materials with stem cell differentiation and growth protocols and organotypic models (2D and 3D cellular models of aging) in the design of miniLabs usable in space flights;
- Conducting experiments on drugs and related treatments in space using 3D cellular models;
- Design and development of preclinical activities in microgravity;
- Development of innovative unmanned technologies and devices for preclinical purposes.
